Looking for a Toastmasters Club??

Bud Watkins “Hurry, hurry, step right up under the big top! The show is about to begin!” The first time I heard those words I was eight years old. I knew something exciting was about to happen. I wasn’t sure what but it sounded fun! I wanted to be part of it some way or another. Wouldn’t you? Well the show is about to begin and you are all ready part of it Fellow Toastmasters, welcome to our new year and more importantly welcome to your new learning experience. Some of us are in a new leadership positions, maybe you are just moving side ways in your club or you have stepped up into Area or Division leadership. Maybe it’s your first experience in Toastmasters and you don’t know what to expect. This year I want us to FOCUS ON THE FUN both in our clubs and in our lives, Dr. Smedley the founder of Toastmasters International said, “ We learn best in moments of enjoyment.” We have an unusual set of circumstances this year, we have "THE BIG MO" on our side, what is big Mo? It is momentum. We are moving forward thanks to those who have come before us, all our leadership and you the Toastmaster in your home club! Our goals this year are simple but not easy, let’s add FIVE new members to each club, and FIVE new clubs n each Division!!! I think if we do we can end up in Fifth in the Toastmasters World! Having fun in your Toastmasters club means it is not another meeting it means it is something we plan we design. How many of you have had the backward meeting? Where you begin at the end of your meeting? Or how many of you have a Dress up day? I know some clubs where it is a super fun time but it is planned! If you have a fun Idea please share with us at our Focus on Fun email address and Steve Gunther, our Success Times Editor, Rusty Cousins, our Webmaster and Kevin Vorheise, our district PR Officer will get copies of your ideas to share with all of us. This year we are having a Presidential visit from our new International President, Chris Ford, he will be at our conference Oct. 26-28...Plan to be there...YOU WILL HAVE FUN!!! I have a Drawing set up for Division Governors, Area Governors, and Club Presidents, For the Division Governor with the most Area governors at the conference he/she will be eligible for “BUD BUCKS” twenty dollars in Toastmasters Gift Certificates. Area Governors with the most clubs in attendance (all of this is on Saturday) will be eligible for “BUD BUCKS”. Prizes also for the club with five or more members attending Saturday and the club with the very most members will receive Twenty Bud Bucks. Welcome to what looks like a very fun time and great year ahead! As the clowns say, “Bump Noses.” And FOCUS ON THE FUN!!! Bud Watkins DTM District Governor D-40
